Darlington Sabasi
Darlington Sabasi is from Marondera, Mashonaland East in Zimbabwe. Darlington is currently doing PhD in Economics (Econometrics and Industrial Organization fields and Agricultural Economics Elective) at Washington State University and expects to graduate in May 2016. He obtained dual M.Sc. Degrees in Agricultural and Applied Economics and Environment and Natural Resources from the University of Wyoming and has a journal article from his masters thesis published in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics in 2013 (one of the top journals in this field). In addition, Darlington holds a B.Sc. (Honors) in Agribusiness (Overall best graduating student among other awards) from Africa University in Zimbabwe.
In addition to his academic studies Darlington enjoys getting involved on campus and giving back to his community. He is currently a Senator in the Graduate Professional Students Association representing the School of Economic Sciences and a presenter for Engage The World Program among others. While at the University of Wyoming, Darlington was the president of the Wyoming African Students Association where he successfully hosted the inaugural soccer fiesta as a fundraiser and funds raised where donated to Chiedza Child Care in Zimbabwe and he served on the faculty search committee among other activities. During his undergraduate, Darlington was involved in various activities on campus which include president of Model UN, university ambassador and initiator and Editor-in-Chief of a publication called International Voices at Kalamazoo College in Michigan where he spend a year on study abroad. Darlington is currently heavily involved working with his former Ordinary Level High School on initiatives to enable Alumni from his former school to get involved in giving back to the school. He was Guest of Honor at their Prefects Installation in March 2012. Professionally, Darlington is Founder and Executive Director of DARSH HORTCO Pvt. Ltd, an agribusiness company registered in Zimbabwe in June, 2012.
When not studying, doing research or engaged with community service, Darlington enjoys working out, playing racquetball, playing and watching soccer, current affairs and debating mainly about soccer, politics and economic situation in Zimbabwe and Africa.
